Traffic police say heavy vehicles won’t be allowed into the city during specific evening hours from December 27 to December 31. The restriction comes as roadwork continues in several areas and people start moving around more ahead of the New Year.

From December 27 to December 30, trucks and other large vehicles will be stopped between 3 pm and 8 pm. On December 31, the cut-off will last longer, starting at 3 pm and running until midnight.

Officials say the timing isn’t random. Evenings are already busy, and with construction still going on, traffic tends to pile up quickly. Add year end movement to that, and things slow down fast.

Traffic police teams will be out on the roads during these hours. They’ll be managing entry points and trying to keep regular commuters moving. The focus, according to officials, is to avoid jams rather than hand out fines.

Drivers have been asked to plan ahead and avoid entering the city during restricted hours if they’re driving heavy vehicles. Police say cooperation will make a noticeable difference.

Anyone needing help can call the Traffic Police helpline at 1915. For emergencies, Pucar-15 remains available.

The restrictions are temporary and will end after December 31, 2025 unless authorities say otherwise.
