Honda Motorcycles are very popular in Pakistan and they are always selling in a large number. In the past few months, Honda Motorcycle sales are having a different trend. The company is increasing prices every month and their motorcycles are also not available readily in the market. This is happening because new Honda motorcycles are being smuggled into Afghanistan. Here is what we know.
A Honda dealer shared the insight that the company is having a hard time manufacturing new units due to import restrictions. Also because of the increased dollar rates, the prices have gone high. New motorcycle prices have become very high compared to last year.
Since Afghanistan is coming out of war, they also have a lot of foreign investment. Being a landlocked country they are dependent upon Pakistan. The Honda motorcycles are being smuggled from Pakistan into Afghanistan. As per Honda dealers, they pay own money and take motorcycles to Afghanistan. This is creating a shortage of motorcycles in Pakistan.
Despite getting expensive and being smuggled to Afghanistan, it would be better if Honda exports them to Afghanistan legally. This way Pakistan will earn dollars and we may get rid of CG125 and CD70 stigma!
