Pakistan’s automobile sector is witnessing a major shift as JW Group Pakistan has announced a new collaboration with Jinpeng Group, China’s largest electric tricycle manufacturer. The partnership aims to introduce both electric and gasoline powered two and three wheelers into the local market, creating fresh opportunities for innovation and sustainable mobility.
Production for these vehicles has already begun at JW Group’s modern facilities in Lahore. This marks a significant step forward for Pakistan’s two and three wheeler market, which has traditionally been dominated by conventional motorcycles and rickshaws. With this partnership, consumers will soon have access to more affordable, eco friendly, and technologically advanced alternatives.
This is not JW Group’s first foray into the automotive industry. The company already operates a successful joint venture with China’s SAIC Motor International under the MG JW Automobile Pakistan banner, producing MG-branded vehicles locally. By teaming up with Jinpeng, JW Group is expanding its presence into the light vehicle category, particularly focusing on mobility solutions that directly cater to everyday transport needs in Pakistan.
Speaking about the venture, Muhammad Javed Afridi, CEO of JW Corporation, emphasized that the collaboration combines JW’s local manufacturing strength and strong distribution network with Jinpeng’s world-class expertise in electric mobility. Afridi further highlighted that this initiative could eventually position Pakistan as a hub for exporting new energy vehicles to other South Asian markets.

Zakir Ali, CEO of Jinpeng Group, echoed this sentiment, pointing out that Pakistan has immense potential for electric mobility. He explained that starting with a mix of gasoline and electric vehicles is a strategic decision, ensuring the company addresses the existing demand while gradually building consumer trust in EV technology. With over 400 global patents, Jinpeng aims to create a sustainable ecosystem for electric mobility that suits Pakistan’s unique road and market conditions.
